Happy New Year!  Patricia and I would like to say how grateful we are to have such wonderful customers and friends.  We wish each and every one of you a happy, healthy, prosperous and of course crafty 2016!
Also we have a Memory Box Order that I will put up in the wee hours of the morning on January 4th (that is when the Memory Box folks say we can share it with you).  We will take preorders until January 7th noon time.  The release will then be removed from the blog and no further preorders will be taken.  We will also offer our usual free layaway for any Memory Box orders, so you may order whatever you like.  We just ask that you pay for it in full by March 1, 2016 or make other arrangements with Patricia.

Darth Plagueis is a Sith apprentice that was trained by Darth Tenebrous. He is credited by Darth Sidious of mastering the powers of life and death.

Early Years and Training:
Darth Plagueis's master is Darth Tenebrous.  Tenebrous planned and manipulated the parents of Hego Damask to fall in love and marry.  He chose he parent based off their sensitivity to the force and political connections.  Once Hego Damask reached the age of 5, Tenebrous came and manipulated his parents to allow him to be raised by him.  Hego Damask took immediately to using the force and to the ideology of the Sith taught to him by Darth Tenebous.  He took on the mantle of Darth Plagueis.

Hego Damask runs the company Damask Holdings while acting as Darth Plagueis in secret.

Tenebrous was fascinated with a plan to achieve immortality in a powerful body.  He also means of defeating the Jedi and recreating the Sith Empire.  Tenebrous was more scientific and less force imbued than Plagueis and came he came to rely on Plagueis to conduct his research.  Tenebrous however came to view Plagueis as too weak to carry on the Sith line.  He broke with the rule of two and behind Plagueis's back began training another apprentice Darth Venamis.  While Plagueis was taught about the force and how to control for scientific studies, Venamis was trained to be a fierce lightsaber duelist.  Plagueis began using his growing force powers to research other powers like levitation, telekinesis and force lightning.  This research was done behind Darth Tenebrous's back leaving the master clueless as to how powerful Plagueis was becoming.



Eventually, Plagueis saw his chance to rid himself of his master.  The pair were attacked by Assassins and Plagueis walked up to his master and snapped his kneck.  Tenebrous had prepared a special virus that would infect Plagueis and move his mind into his.  The virus also acted to overtake and block the force power of prophesy.  While the virus was successful Tenebrous quickly rejected Plagueis's body because he foresaw his pupil's death would occur too quickly.  This rejection left Tenebrous without a viable body to live in and returned to its corpse.  The one lasting effect of effect of the virus is that it destroyed Plagueis's ability to see the future.

Darth Venamis:
After the death of his master Plagueis was confronted by Darth Venamis whom he defeated in battle.  Plagueis kept Venamis alive to experiment on.  He would kill Venamis and then bring the helpless Sith back to life.   Venamis had also located various other force sensitives to serve as pupils all of these were eliminated by Plagueis.

Master of Palpatine and Rise of the Empire:
Darth Plagueis begins to work to acquire valuable resources from the planet of Naboo.  His company along with the Trade Federation are being thwarted by isolationist forces on the planet.  The consortium finds an ally in the son of one of their opponents, a young man named Palpatine.

Palpatine begins to feed information to Hego Damask (Darth Plagueis) in exchange for political and financial powers of Damask Holdings.  The two have a growing father and son relationship which disturb's Palpatine's father, who attempts to intercede.  Palpatine begins to be trained by Darth Plagueis in ways of the dark side of the force.  Palpatine uses these new force powers to kill off his entire family.  With this action he is congratulated by Hego Damask and becomes the official apprentice of Darth Plagueis.  He takes on the name, Darth Sidious.

 Plagueis began to show his ability of bringing others back from death.  He was unable to do this for himself.  He showed Sidious this by killing Darth Venamis and bringing him back to life.  While powerful Darth Plagueis began to fear that the Force could strike back at him for using his life altering powers.   He became less interested in acquiring powers and more fearful about losing it.

Darth Plagueis sets in motion the cloning facilities that will lead to the Clone armies.  He also helps Palpatine rise the ranks of the Imperial Senate until he is appointed Chancellor. Darth Sidious (Palpatine) felt that Plagueis had used up his usefulness, lulled the old Sith master to sleep and killed him.
 
Star Wars Speculation: 

 Is Darth Plagueis really Supreme Leader Snoke?
Plagueis is a heavily rumored candidate to be Snoke.

The reasons to believe Plagueis is Snoke are numerous.

• Snoke somewhat resembles Plagueis
• Plagueis had gained control over life and death and may have pulled himself together
• Plagueis was the last great Sith Lord before Palpatine so its more reasonable he would have survived than an older Sith.
• Plagueis is still in the Star Wars film canon due to being mentioned by name by Palpatine in the film Revenge of the Sith.
• As one of the most powerful and knowledgeable Sith it is possible he was able to trick Palpatine and elude being killed by him.

Who is Darth Venamis?

Darth Venamis is a Sith apprentice that was trained by Darth Tenebrous.  When Darth Plagueis killed his master Tenebraus he was then confronted by Venamis.  Venamis makes few appearances in Star Wars Extended Universe primarily in the Star Wars novel, Darth Plagueis by James Luceno.

Species: Bith

Born: BBY

Death:  42 BBY resurrected and killed numerous times by Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious.  Final death is unclear but the novel Darth Plagueis suggests he was finally killed.

Canon: It is unknown of Venamis is within the canon of the Star Wars ongoing continuity.  While Plagueis is mentioned in Episode III, Venamis is not.

Darth Venamis Bio:
It is speculated that Venamis may be the biological offspring or relative of his master Darth Tenebrous.  Both Sith are of the Bith species.

At some point while training Darth Plagueis, his master Darth Tenebrous decided to break with Darth Bane's rule of 2 and a second Sith warrior.  It seemed that Tenebrous disagreed with the Rule of 2.  Tenebrous hoped to use the scientific mind of Plagueis to provide him with immortality and then kill and replace him with Venamis.

While Plagueis was barely trained in the use of Sith Martial combat, Venamis was highly trained in light saber combat by Tenebrous. 

Venamis began to search for other Force Sensitive candidates to train as his own apprentices.  He began to train one of these by the name of Naat Lare.  Naat was given the mission of culling a population of marsh haunts on the planet of Abraxin.  When word came to Venamis that Tenebrous had fallen he immediately left the pursuit of apprentices to kill Darth Plagueis.

Battle between Venamis and Plagueis

Venamis introduced himself and battled Darth Plagueis on the moon Sojourn.  Venamis surprised Plagueis by being more trained in lightsaber combat than himself.  However, Plagueis had greatly studied other powers and after changing tactics defeats Venamis.  Plagueis forces Venamis to eat a Coma-Bloom a poisonous plant that puts those who ingest it in a coma like state.

Plagueis uses the coma weakened body of Venamis to study the dark side of the force and to find the means of immortality.  Eventually, Plagueis did allow Venamis to die but this was only so that he could be brought back again.  Venamis is killed and brought back numerous times.  Darth Sidious witnesses the killing and resurrection of Darth Venamis.



Star Wars Speculation: 

 Is Venamis really Supreme Leader Snoke?
Venamis while a seemingly obscure Sith is a possible candidate to be Snoke.  It is unknown if he ever completely died after all of the experimentation on him by Darth Plagueis.  He would have been heavily weakened and injured from the abuse inflicted on him by Plagueis and would not have been in a position to battle Darth Sidious.  However, after the death of Darth Sidious he would have been left as one of the most highly trained force users next to Luke Skywalker.  This would explain both Snoke's weakened state and his fear of Luke Skywalker.

While knowledgeable in the ways of the Force neither Tenebrous or Venamis were considered to be highly intune with it.  Both would have a far weaker connection than Luke Skywalker. Once again adding a reason for Skywalker to be feared.

Venamis was also never officially bestowed the title of Darth.  He was to take on that mantle only after killing Plagueis which he failed to do.  It could be that the reason why the Darth title has fallen out of use by Snoke and Kylo Ren is that Venamis is not a Darth.

One faulty aspect of this theory is that Venamis is a Bith and Snoke's hologram does not appear to be a Bith.

Darth Tenebrous is a Sith Lord famous for training Darth Plageuis and for initiating a plan that led to the creation of Anakin Skywalker.  He was obsessed with immortality and shaping the future toward the darkside.  Much of plans for the Empire began with Tenebrous.

Darth Tenebrous Bio:
Rugess Nome was a famous starship designer and scientist before meeting a Sith lord.  It is thought that Tenebrous was not as biologically adept at the force as many other Sith but was selected due to his scientific acumen.  Eventually, he would take on the mantle of Darth Tenebrous.  Even while acting as a Sith Lord he maintained his persona as ship designer which gave him access to many nodes of power within the galaxy.

Darth Tenebrous served the beneath a mysterious Twi'lek Sith Lord.  This Sith Lord worked on what he called a grand plan that was to construct a virus that would block Jedi's connection to the force.    This plan ended in failure and eventually Tenebrous slew his master when he felt he had learned everything his master knew.



On his own Tenebrous began to create a new darkside philosophy where it was seen scientifically as an energy source as opposed to a force of moral malevolence. Tenebrous was always very forward looking and so planned the birth of his first apprentice by manipulating a man to meeting his future wife.  The pairing Tenebrous had calculated would result in the creation of a child powerful in the force.  When the child, Hego Damask turned 5 he went to live with Darth Tenebrous.  Hego Damask became his apprentice and took on the mantle of Darth Plagueis.

Tenebrous began to work on a grand plan of his own design.  He and Plagueis began to study the genetics that led to one being powerful with the force.  They began conducting experiments where areas were bombarded with force inducing energy that was meant to create powerful force users.  Tenebrous also studied how to move his mind between bodies with his end goal being to create a powerful chosen one, whose body he could take for his own and live forever in.

Tenebrous begins to view Plagueis as intelligent but weak.  He begins to train a young Bith in the ways of the force behind Plagueis's back named DarthVenamis.    He delegates the research aspects of his plan to Plagueis, while training the other apprentice in combat.  Little does he know that Plagueis is also studying other force powers behind his Masters back.  Tenebrous foresaw his own death at the hands of Plagueis but created a countermeasure.  In his mind and force abilities would move into Plagueis and slowly take control of his apprentice's power of foresight and take him over.  While this does happen Tenebrous is horrified to learn that Plagueis own death is near and that he will never be able to move his body into the chose one.  This horror causes to Tenebrous to flee the body of his apprentice and become trapped in the corpse body of his mummy...possibly forever.

Star Wars Speculation:
Could Darth Tenebrous be Lord Snoke?  Tenebrous was obsessed with immortality and had found the means of moving his mind through a virus between bodies.  It is suggested that his mind never infact died but became trapped in his original corpse.  It is possible that after a time his mind gave up on the idea of taking over the chosen one (Anakin Skywalker) and instead began to rebuild his damaged corpse.  This could the simultaneous vast knowledge and great weakness of Supreme Leader Snoke.

One reason this theory is weak is that Snoke does not appear to be a Bith.  However, Tenebrous was capable of moving his mind between bodies he may have found a body of another species weak enough for him to control.

First pictures from Doctor Strange film

 With the Marvel Phase 2 box set Marvel is providing more details on Doctor Strange.  Included is some official concept art of Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme.

On top of the art was a short video including thoughts from Scott Derrickson and Kevin Feige.




There have been a few photo releases from the set of Doctor Strange.
There is also a short video taken from the set of Cumberbatch walking with a book through a Buddhist temple in Nepal.  He encounters a hooded figure.  My assumption is this is when he meets the Ancient One.




EW Photos:
 EW has also released photos with some interesting interviews.  Included in the interviews is Cumberbatch and Kevin Feige discussing the powers of Doctor Strange.  It sounds like his powers will be very similar to his depictions in the comics.



In the photo you can see that Strange is wearing the Eye of Agamotto and the Cloak of Levitation.

Benedict revealed that 'there's all sorts of craziness. Falling, flying, jumping, fighting, punching, getting punched. It's really rough-and-tumble.' 

Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, explained to EW: 'He has a Cloak of Levitation that allows him to fly. The Eye of Agamotto can manipulate probabilities, which is another way of saying "screw around with time."'

Adding: 'He can create mandalas of light as shields and whips. He can create portals to go to other places around the world.' 

Benedict has been working on his hand movements for the magical elements of his character, telling EW: 'I'm still in the infancy of learning all that. It was like, okay, I've got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically.'

He continued: 'I'm thinking, there's going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I'm still working on that.'

Adding: 'We haven't played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It's like anything, you just have to experiment.' 

The Sherlock actor emphasized the importance of perfecting the gestures, because they are 'ways of creating the magic. It's a beautiful thing, it's very dynamic.'

 

 Benedict Cumberbatch set photos:
Benedict Cumberbatch was seen on set as Doctor Strange.  He is bearded and ragged.  This is obviously from the point in the film where he is searching for a cure for his hands.  Some people online have compared his look to Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins and said it is a copy.  The looks are similar because the situations are similar but I don't think its a copy.  They are both just bearded western dudes wandering Asia.  By that standard Batman Begins is a copy of Brad Pitt in 7 Years in Tibet.
