Who is Kylo Ren from Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Kylo Ren is a character in the Star Wars universe that will appear in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Kylo Ren is played by Adam Driver.

Bio:
 Kylo Ren is user of the Dark Side of the force.  He is part of a group called the Knights of Ren.  From this group he has taken on the surname of Ren.  Ren for the group is thus similar to the use of Darth by the Sith Lords.   Kylo Ren has been shown holding the remains of Darth Vader's helmet.  Some have suggested that he is obsessed with older dark lord who died 30 years prior.

Kylo Ren has allied himself with the First Order a resurgent organization that has grown out of the remains of the Galatic Empire.

Light Saber:


Kylo Ren uses a distinctive light saber that has a cross guard (2 blades jutting out perpendicular from the main blade).  Kylo Ren constructed the lightsaber himself in the Sith/ Jedi fashion.
Some have also described its blade as unusually jagged for a light saber.

It is said that the cross guard is a release of energy from the lightsaber and while this is an ancient design it also seems to be caused by Kylo Ren not being a true Sith/Jedi master.   The rawness of the lightsaber is also shown by how it violently flickers.

Appearance:
He has been shown wearing a mask that bears a resemblance to the mask of Darth Vader.
Dressed in black clothes and armor that has a cowl.

Potential Spoilers
As Ren is not Kylo's actual surname, it is possible he is related to an older Star War character like Luke, Leia, and Han Solo.  This same fact also applies to the character of Rey and Finn.  It has been speculated that Rey and Kylo Ren are siblings.
